Bake With Me: Apple Oat Biscuits

Morning Beautifuls,

Every once in a while I like to try something new for breakfast. I find it the one meal of the day I sometimes struggle to eat all the time, so try and jazz it up every once in a while to keep it interesting and make myself eat something.

My recent breakfast recipe has been these gorgeous Apple Out biscuits. These are a perfect breakfast biscuit, working amazingly well for days where you need to rush out of the house and have no time to throw a breakfast together. They also taste incredible with plain yoghurt!

To make them, you will need:

  • 125g butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 apples, one peeled and diced, the other sliced thinly with the skin left on.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Simple.

Beat sugar and butter until light and creamy. Once again, simple. Add the egg sand beat well again.  Then add the flour, oats and baking powder and fold through the mixture until just mixed. Stir through the diced apple and then roll tablespoons of mixture into balls and place them on a baking tray. Place a slice of apple on top of each biscuit and push it down slightly.

Stick it in the oven and bake it for 30-35mins! Then enjoy!

These are some of my favourite breakfast biscuits at the moment as they are like baked apple oatmeal. They are incredible with a dollop of yoghurt and taste great both warm and cold! Thumbs up for making breakfast fun!

My Morning Routine: Lazy Autumn Day

Morning Beautifuls!

I hope you had a fantabulous week (yes, auto-correct, accept it as a word!).

Anyway, today I wanted to share with you my Morning Routine on a lazy Autumn day inclusive of breakfast, my normal makeup routine and my outfit of the day! So lets not dilly-dally and get on with it!

The first thing I like to do when I wake up, is to make myself some breakfast. At the moment, I am LOVING my hot chocolates, especially since I found these chocolate and vanilla mini marshmallows. CHOCOLATE MARSHMALLOWS. I didm’t even know they are a thing! As I was been extra lazy this morning, I even decided to use an ‘instant chocolate’ packet where all I had to do was boil the kettle and mix the two. Obviously, I did this all in my favourite cup – Snoopy for the win!

For breakfast, I opted for quick and easy toast. At the moment, I love my Kiwi Fruit jam and Vegemite – yes, very Australian of me. But yes, I am a sucker for our traditional vegemite and if you have not tried Kiwi Fruit Jam in your life before you are missing out. Although the only place I have ever found this jam was in New Zealand. Don’t know what I am going to do when the bottle is empty.

After breakfast, I usually wash my face and then put on my usual makeup. Skin-wise, this involves foundation, concealer, powder and bronzer, usually followed by some eyeshadow around the eyes. Today I decided to use a gold on my top lid with a chocolate brown blended into my upper crease and the corner of my eye. A dash of black liquid liner, a curl of my eyelash and a brush of mascara and my eyes are complete! Lips are simple – keeping it natural, I chose a David Jones lipstick mixed with the natural lipgloss. I love this combination as it brightens and plumps my lips whilst still keeping it slightly natural looking.

My final morning routine ritual is to get dress. Yes this is usually the last step I do – I like trying to stay in my Pyjamas as long as I can. Why can’t they make everyday clothes as comfy as Pyjamas?

Anyway, I’m getting distracted. Outfit-wise I decided to go for my new, extra-comfy black high-waist skinny jeans paired with a purple sleeveless crop top and my cute patterned kimono. Shoes were my Betts lace boots. Obvious choice, right? Warm enough for the Autumn breeze but still cool enough for the midday sun!

Anyway, that is my morning routine for a lazy Autumn day! Hope you enjoyed it!
May your middle of the week be an incredible time!

Breakfast Ideas!

Morning Beautifuls!

Sometimes I find breakfast the hardest meal of the day, especially when it includes waking up and getting out of bed.

Just going to mention in advance, I love having a banana for breakfast, so nearly all of these breakfast ideas are served with a banana. Having fruit for breakfast is a really refreshing so I really recommend you add any fruit you want, whether that is banana or any substitute you want (berries, citrus etc).

So here are some quick and easy breakfast ideas, some take just a few seconds to put together, others take around twenty minutes, but they all taste incredible!

  1. Banana Yoghurt – I find this is a fresh, healthy breakfast idea which is super quick and really delicious. I usually have a few spoonfuls of vanilla yoghurt with one banana chopped up in it:

Another option, if you want something a big more filling, is to add some muesli to the yoghurt and banana. When I do this, I usually mix a bit of Special K with Rice Bubbles and Wheat.

  2. Toasted Croissant with Ham and Cheese – This is another quick and easy breakfast idea if you have the right ingredients. What I usually do is cut croissant in half, add one piece of ham to each side and slice of cheese on top. I then cook it under a sandwich maker for a minute until the cheese is melt and, presto! Breakfast!

  3. Poached Eggs with Toast – I usually leave these for the weekend as it takes a little bit of effort to make. In a deep fry pan, pour in some water (about 2/3 of the pan) and allow to just simmer before cracking however many eggs you want into it. It is important not to let the water boil!!! Leave simmering until you get the eggs the way you want them, flopped them onto a piece of toast and enjoy!

  4. Banana Smoothie – for the day I don’t feel like an actually meal, I usually like to make myself a smoothie. At the moment, that usually is a banana smoothie and is one of the easiest and nicest smoothie recipes I ever made. To make this smoothie, I usually blend together one banana, 2-3 heaped tablespoons of vanilla yogurt and about a cup of milk.

  5. Porridge with Banana Slices – this is one of the warmer breakfasts and the one I usually have on a regular basis. This is a really quick breakfast, I mix ¼ cup of oats with ½ cup of water and microwave it for around 1min 20secs. On the side (because I don’t like warm banana) I chop up a banana and that is my breakfast!

Hope you now have more ideas for your breakfasts!
